Draft Prospects

Value of Prospect (coming soon actual prospects)

Before I go over who I think are the ideal prospects for the Dallas Cowboys come April, we need to look at which position is their biggest need. The key to evaluating each position in the draft is by value. If our top need is secondary help (which it is) then that is a position we need to address in Rounds 1 or 2. If a need to address is QB Depth which is a lower value on a team like ours, than thats a position that can be addressed in the 6th or 7th round or even Rookie Free Agency.

So with that said lets look at what the cowboys need and address its value by round.

Needs:

Secondary Help (CB/S) - 1st/2nd/6th/7th Round Possibility

Safeties Gerald Sensabaugh, Abe Elam, and Alan Ball are all Free Agents come spring, Cowboys should work to resign Elam or Sensabaugh but still need to at least look at the CB position. CB Mike Jenkins will be a Free Agent in 2013 and will be expendable by that point if his play doesn't approve. This particular draft has a lot of talent in the first two rounds as well and weakens towards the end so it'll be essential to draft at least one of the marquee players in the first or second round.

Inside and Outside Linebacker - 1st/2nd/3rd/4th/7th Round Possibility

Sean Lee is looking like an absolute stud this season but we still have no idea what Bruce Carter brings to the table; and Keith Brooking, Anthony Spencer, and Bradie James are all Free Agents come spring. We need to add a dynamic pass rusher opposite Demarcus Ware because Spencer just hasn't lived up to his 1st round draft pick status.

O-Line Help and Depth - 2nd/3rd/5th/6th/7th Round Possibility

Tackles Doug Free and Tyron Smith have solidified their spots for the next few years, but their is no one behind them and our interior line is underwhelming. Luckily you can find solid guards and centers in the later rounds this year, so we will be looking at them there.

Defensive Line Help and Depth - 3rd/4th/5th Round Possibility

We have a lot of defensive lineman under contract, but outside of Jay Ratliff no real dynamic playmakers. It would be great to score one this year in this draft but the talent pool just really isn't their in the higher rounds. Their is some value in the middle rounds though and we could definitely take a look at some talent there.

QB/WR/TE Depth - 5th/6th/7th/FA Round Possibility

Luckily we have some of the best starters in the league at these three position and overall okay depth at all three. Marty Bennet is going the be a free agent and Jon Kitna has nothing left in the tank so we can definitely look at depth in the later rounds were you can always find something.

Running Back - NONE

This is our only position that we are completely stacked at, and thats a great thing, so no need to look at anyone here.
